This morning we moved the boat from the rigger's dock to our regular slip here at Safe Harbor Oxford Boat Yard. The technician came by and finished the Starlink installation and reviewed the installation of the new batteries with Peter. With a short break in the mostly gloomy day, Bryan was able to continue cleaning the glue that held down the boat wrap from the gunnels. Peter worked on various things while I prepared meals and continued the U.S. Sailing online Safety at Sea course and finished a novel. When the skies cleared up for an hour or two, I took the opportunity to escape the boat, where the weather had kept me inside for two days, and walked around town, stopping in the post office and the one-room volunteer-run Oxford library. I returned to the boat shortly before a thunder and lightening storm began.
The survey was scheduled for tomorrow, but it has been postponed to the beginning of next week since repair of the life lines and other jobs need to be completed first. Unfortunately, this will postpone our departure for a few more days.
There is no rain forecast for the next five days, so it should be possible to get work down on deck and spend some time strolling around the lovely town of Oxford.
