Onset Bay, Massachusetts

After a late lunch yesterday afternoon after anchoring in Onset Bay, we relaxed on board for a while. Peter has developed a sinus infection, so he needed a nap. At dinner time, we dinghied in to the town of Onset and had dinner of burgers and fried food at a restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the beach and the bay. Afterwards, we walked through the small downtown area and then along a residential street to reach Shell Point. From there, we walked along the low bluff and then descended a wooden staircase to walk along the wide beach and return to the dinghy dock.

Peter was still not feeling well, so he and I went to bed early while Mike and Louise sat topsides and enjoyed the stillness of the early night.

This morning we arose before 5:30 a.m. and pulled up anchor within an hour to take advantage of the current through the Cape Cod canal. Now we are sailing in Cape Cod Bay. We have once again changed our plans and are heading to Provincetown rather than Plymouth so that we can sail, which is what Mike came for! However, southwest winds will make anchoring overnight there unwise, so we will cross back over the sound to the west side for the night before going to Boston tomorrow.
